Mike's good deeds.
Welcome to Jewellery Rescue metal detector hire service Mike. Rockhampton is now supported by Jewellery Rescue Network Austraila. I find you metal detecting attitude and skills in your following real life jewellery rescue to be of outstanding quality as of Brians in the same area.
Extract from Mike’s story as told by him.
Counte Pierre and I went on a short stroll at the beach this morning so he could get a feel for his new scoop. I was only on the sand for 2 minutes as a couple walking their dogs approached me with some queries.
They wanted to know where I was from, and what I might charge for my services. The missus claimed she lost her diamond engagement ring in their back yard near the heels hoist. My ears lit up! “Do tell???” I exclaimed. She said her finger had shrank as she had lost some weight and she lost it while hanging out the laundry. They claimed they rang around and could not find anybody that offered this service and could not even find a local place to hire the equipment. I asked where they lived and it turned out to be right on my way back to town. I have always dreamed about finding somebody’s lost ring, but just never came across the opportunity. Today opportunity was knockin my door down! I verified that they were certain they knew almost exactly where it was, and there would not be any large metal obstructions right nearby to make the detecting difficult. I told them I was relatively confident that I could locate it if it had not been kicked up by mowing or something. It was nearly sunset and we had 30kms to go, so off we headed to have a go!
As soon as we pulled up in the drive it was already dark, but they claimed to have a back porch light. As soon as I headed through the garage the lady told me ” I have to come clean now…..there are actually THREE gold diamond rings out there somewhere, as I THREW them out there a couple months ago!” Personal business, and NOT mine, but I knew where she was coming from – $hit happens
She went into town for fish and chips as her husband and I set off to find the goodies. With the depth indicator I knew we would not have to dig anything that showed over a few inches deep(the grass was that deep already). In no time I hit a strong signal, but it pinpointed large, and sure enough, just under the grass surface was a can lid, then a few metres away, some alfoil, then eventually a 2c brownie, then a 50c. After less then 10 mins though I got a real nice tone, and right near the surface. The pro-pointer made it clear that it was a nice narrow, clean solid target.
I poked my fingers through the grass and at the very bottom, nearly in the soil – there it was! The first ring! Only it had no stone in it
It looked like silver or white gold and you could tell it wasn’t directly hit, but slightly deformed and the setting had opened up and let go of the stone. Obviously a victim of the mower after all. BUT as I handed it to the hubby and asked if this was it, he replied ” I’m not sure?” What?? This was right in the path that she tossed them. I let him pocket the find while we kept looking for number 2 and 3. I was feeling pretty good having already found potentially 1/3 of the loot!
When she returned with food we called her over for a look. She too shrugged her shoulders and didn’t recognise the ring! I made about 2 more rows 10 metres long, a little bit to the right of the potential target zone. More trash and deep signal, but no winners.
Then I started to make a pass to the left of the target zone. I got a signal, but it wasn’t a ripper. Consistent enough though to justify a stoop with the pro-pointer. A great strong, narrow signal right on the surface. He held the torch overhead as I scratched through the grass with me fingers. Then, there it was……. a small two-banded gold ring with two small diamonds in it! He called the missus over for a look and she confirmed that was ONE of the rings! SCORE! This however was neither the wedding nor engagement ring. I stood back up and kept swinging. Less than a metre away I got another mediocre but consistent signal at 3-4 inches (the grass was 4 inches deep here). The pro-pointer nailed it, and a little finger digging exposed the WEDDING RING!! Boo yah! Two out of three! On the ground I could already hear another signal about a foot away with the pro-pointer. I went ahead and checked the detector and it was in the right range and made similar tone. 10 seconds poking through the grass unveiled the Engagement ring!!
He was amazed and said straight away that they would NEVER have found them without the right gear.
I was ten feet tall and bulletproof! Not only did I recover all three of her diamond rings, but found a nice silver ring to boot! All this in about 40 minutes in the dark.
Fish and chips were on the table so we sat down for a great meal and she kept looking down at her finger with all the rings on it. Turning them on her finger, you could see the joy in her eyes. I told them I HAD to at least photograph the goodies so they gladly obliged.
All was good, now I couldn’t wait to get back to town to tell Count Pierre of my big finish!
He was stoked as well and told me to hurry up and post the news! He also confirmed my big ring was 925. That explained the nice juicy tone it put off.
So a great day with a fellow detector, and the opportunity to help someone find a LOT of precious goodies!
People of Rockhampton your sitting pretty, to have these sort of quality detectorists in your town ready to assist you if you need a Jewellery Rescue if a minor disaster strikes your friends or family.

Poppa in Hobart Tasmania was helping around his sons garden and was up a small ladder pruning some low lying fruit tree branchs when his 50 year old wedding ring plus (now a little loose in his more senior years) fell from his finger and made a metal clunk as it hit a rung of the ladder spearing off and vanished into a garden of approx 30cm miniature agapanthe type plants. His son and wife looked hard and long for the ring a tough task amongst so many plants. Looking up the Internet they found and called our company called Jewellery Rescue in google. As it turns out we have two part time good detectorists based in Hobart. As this call came in on the weekend Sarah was able to respond that afternoon and search for Poppies lost ring. First searched was in the garden bed itself and out came and assortment of old nails from amongst the plants but no ring. Next detector search was the far side of the outer garden beds once again some more metal junk. Where was that ring.? Well it turns out the ring was found on the nearest path to the house underneath some cuttings that where slightly piled up. The ring was found in approximately half and hour after arriving there, and a very nice square shaped ring it is. No miss taking this is a mans ring, note the deep yellow colour that normally indicates a higher gold stamp most likely 18K as it turned out to be. The ring had to be there some where but it is always great to recover it and make sure we see those smiles on the owners faces and the ring back on the finger it came off once more. At Jewellery Rescue we look forward to helping more people recover their lost Jewellery joining the rest of Australia benefiting from our Jewellery Rescue services.

A young family from Canberra where ready to return home spending another last hour or two on Cronalla beach before heading inland again. It was here where Max’s wife had her Small diamond D letter shaped pendant fall of it’s chain in to the sand. They knew to within one meter of where it fell but visually searching proved hopeless and they had to start travelling home soon that day.
I arranged to meet Max and his family ASAP on the beach in approximatly an hours time to recover their wayward pendant for them. Once I meet the family and they showed me the small search area the quality metal detector made short work of finding small the 10mm tall D Pendant in the loose sand for them. A small item but deeply meaning full to the family. We where all happy they will be taking it home with them not left unsearched for on the beach.

Ruth and her husband on their honeymoon were swimming in waist deep water beach side of Port Stephens when he felt his wedding band slip from his finger.

3 day old wedding ring found
As they where divers they instantly froze on the spot as not to lose the location in the hope of spotting the ring underwater. But Heavy gold rings bury themselves instantly in about an inch of sand the second they hit the bottom as a rule. They hired some diving gear and went back to the beach that they accurately marked to their credit but visual searching was in vain. It was starting to become apparent that newly weds where at greater risk of losing their rings. Well the way Jewellery Rescue works is we send the closest properly equiped detectorist, in this case from Newcastle metal detector hire an hour away (the couple where more than happy to cover extra fuel costs incurred). Andrew meet the couple and started metal detecting the water where the ring came off Ruth said the dive shop thought the ring would be washed away. The facts are gold simply settles deeper as the sand moves unless their are very strong currents. Andrew pulled up quite a few metal items and just before dusk they found the ring in the water so tonight it wont be residing with the fishes. There now 4 day old weeding ring was restored to them both clearly a happy couple no photo reqired here.

It was 3pm - I arrived to metal detector hire search a 1.2km looped running track that Bianca jogs frequently. The target was a beautiful 36 diamond 25 mm pendant that has a matching ring of equal distinctive qualities. As it turned out, the emotional value of this ring far outweighed any dollar value countless times over. A few days prior to my call from Bianca, she had discovered much to her dismay, the clasp of her strong pendant chain impossibly had opened snagged on her top, while jogging that day. Her mother’s irreplaceable pendant was missing. This isn’t just any pendant. It was the one her mother gave to her and formed an emotional connection between them regardless of distance apart. I heard how Bianca’s loving family diligently searched the path numerous times to try and recover it over several days as the path was frequented by many people on walks. Bianca’s Husband wisely put up a few reward posters as many honest people still exist and look for clues as to the real owner. I also added my own reward posters with my own phone number as I can shield people and lady owners from nuisance calls and preserve their privacy. After Bianca and I surveyed the route she took around the jogging track in Chipping Norton, I started metal detecting as fast as I could go without missing items. Many people frequented the path and hope of finding such a distinctive item was diminishing with time. Night was falling, Bianca’s son stopped by to warn me that some drug users frequent the area at night. I thanked him for his advice but stayed detecting and making sure the first leg of the path was completely search both sides before I left. I informed Bianca via sms of a nil result. I would have to return fresh the next day. The following day was glorious and I started out in good spirits to finish off the 1.2km track, (both sides that are 2.2km of detecting). I started where I left off the night before with the highest of level of focus I could muster a kilometre of search area to go. I found over 250 metal junk items. I detected no fewer than two swampy foot bridges until it was the 11th hour and I was on the last 50 metre leg of the path I could see the path end in sight yet giving up wasn’t an option until last 1mm is searched. Another signal, like so many before but this time sitting on its edge, nearly invisible under a small sapling gum tree, a sight to behold when Bianca’s mother’s pendant flipped face up into my hand sparkling brilliantly in the sun. It was like holding a piece of the sun in my hand; I was so pleased it was found. A weight lifted as I had fathomed its emotional importance to Bianca, of whom I later found out, had been so worried and upset that she hadn’t eaten or slept properly since its loss which effects most people this way. When I told her it was found over the phone she needed time to let her feelings to change from that of deep loss to restoration and beyond. I gave the pendant to her son who was at home so he could reassure his mother it was indeed found and safe once more home where it belonged. I was invited back later that day to a very warm smiling family.(Found pendant on the right hand side of photo.)

Reunited jewellery
In Hindu tradition when people save people from ordeals and bring peace of mind, Bianca whole heartedly called Jewellery Rescue and “myself , a god for the day”. Well this was a compliment which touched me – that my efforts were appreciated so. I even today let that positive compliment amongst others good will power my search efforts in the most toughest detecting conditions to support new search efforts near or far. But reality remains constant I can’t always overcome all adversities and recover all people’s jewellery no matter how hard we want, will it or search. We care at Jewellery Rescue on all of our metal detector hire jobs that much we can guarantee. My thanks to Bianca and her family her hospitality, the generous reward has enabled me to do my brand of positive good in the elsewhere.

Dianne a bride to be didnt ever think she would need to hire Jewellery Rescue metal detector hire service to get married.
As it turns out she was ready to leave the beach with her friends and stood up brushing the sand from clothes when off came her very nice engagment ring. It was 14k white gold, set with varing size diamonds to a peak visualy unique. The sand just covered it up with out trace. Dianne said she had at least 20 people sifting the sand with their hands to no avail for the ring after they saw her trying to find it herself. She phoned her brother who used the internet to find our company Jewellery Rescue. I contacted Brian our local detectorist in the area who in this case was able to come down to the beach straight away. To his credit he had found the ring in less the 60 seconds detecting time. Also to
Dianna’s credit too as she marked the beach exactly where she lost the ring giving us a precise search area. Dianna also confessed in relief after we recovered the ring she was very nervous to have to tell her currently overseas fionce that she lost the ring he gave her. Well at least now she can tell him and have a positive outcome. Other Guys and girls out there please try to forgive each other for any lost rings out there it happens to both sexes all to often keeping in mind it dose take a bit of cooling off when a hard earned $$$ ring is lost providing a detector hire dosnt recover it for you..

Brisbane to Surfer’s Paradise to recover a lost wedding ring for the Australia wide Jewellery Rescue. It was 6:15 on a Saturday evening. A call came in from a family holidaying at Surfers Paradise staying not too far from Sea World. It was a lovely autumn evening and they decided to have an evening meal on the beach at sunset. During the sunset it was noticed the ring had slipped off the wife’s finger where they where sitting. Due to the cooler air our hands reduce size in the cold. The good news is they knew exactly where the ring came off and they then understandably spent two hours sieving the sand with their fingers in the hope of a quick recovery. I really applaud their efforts and wish they found the ring of their own accord. However it is my every-day experience that you can be holding a hand full of sand with the ring in it and unless you are carefull you wont feel it in your hand and might move it away from the drop zone. Filtering the sand out between your fingers is the best way or use your hand like a rake moving approx 30 mm of sand depth at a time.
The closest Jewellery Rescue Network member was a real decent guy called Kim in South Brisbane approximatly 1H 15 Mins away. They had their grand-daughter over for the evening enjoying dinner when I called. Kim being really understanding and knew what it was like to loose something, agreed to join the family’s search as they said were not leaving the beach until it was found. On Kim’s behalf, I asked the family for an extra $20 for fuel given the drive involved. They agreed and understood it might cost extra if the detectorist is willing to travel further to search sites. Sadly the petroleum companies get the money not us.
On arrival Kim wasted no time and made short work of the beach search area approximatly 5 m square and the ring was found within 3 minutes about 60 mms under the sand. The family where very thankful that Kim came out, at very short notice (which isnt always possible). We thank the family for inviting us to assist them with our metal detector experience. Kim is one of the many good detectorists in many towns and cities across Australia who help people find their lost jewellery, by hooking them up with skilled local detectorists.

This rescue is set in Blayney NSW is a pretty town ringed by Orange and Cowra in the Bathurst Region. In this search Jewellery rescue can only offer support and good practical advice to Tom who has lost his wedding ring after a pretty normal domestic disturbance involving rings being thrown in the heat of the moment.
We are always looking for skilled metal detectorists, for services in the Bathurst region today in fact any!! Australian region big or small. Nothing better than the satisfaction of returning jewellery to make peoples days for them. Contact Tony on 0457870000 to have a chat.
Brad a mate from Metal detector Hire refered Tom to Jewellery Rescue for our large list of maintained Australian contacts.
Tom lost two rings in fact in the front yard of the house one ring slipped off the finger close by and was quickly found sitting on top of the couch grass. But the other wedding ring vanished from view some where in the lawn and or surrounding garden shrubbery. A reasonably small area for a metal detector search if we had a metal detectorist person living in that area. I offered to drive to Blayney from Sydney (3 hours) to Help Tom. I estimated 3 tanks of petrol for the round trip which is starts making the search more expensive. So instead as a first option I gave Tom my best Jewellery finding tips to aid him in another visual search of his front yard. Some times it is reassuring to know you have back up support a phone call away in case the visual search comes up empty. Well some hours later Toms dedicated persistence paid off being on his hands and knees combing through the couch grass with his fingers he found his misplaced wedding ring with much relief. I think we all know how tough it is to find things nestled into the grass roots of some lawns to Toms credit.
Well Tom congratulations on your hard work and find I hope we have a local metal detectorists to help out your community by the next time a piece of jewellery is lost in your region. Tony Jewellery Rescue.

Ready for hire, Metal detector charged up always ready to go on a hire service. It was 11:30am on a cool winters morning, the phone rang I was talking to a good man ( names with-held privacy requested) that was telling me his tale of loss.

Magical Ring wanted to be found and reunited with its mate.
He was weekend gardening, spreading out a layer of sugar cane mulch on the garden for the spring time vegtables when he notice his wedding band was missing from his finger. It mischievously slipped off while working with the mulch and was hidden. They first searched by hand , then bought an inexpensive Chinese metal detector of unknown quality and used it with no success sadly. I think the message here is if your going to buy / hire get a good machine I recommend www.minersden.com.au if you want to DIY. I jumped into the car and meet with his wife at their house. She was clearly shaken and upset with the loss and recent unsuccessful search attempts. She showed me her matching wedding band they had specially crafted in Ireland. A beautiful pair of matching Celtic designed rings. I scanned her gold ring as good metal detectors can discriminate against all other metals and find only the matching gold signature of the target jewellery. So the metal detector hunt began. The lovely lady had no sooner sat down in a garden chair to watch my search progress ., two sweeps later with the E Trac detector and there was a perfect matching gold ring signal coming from under the mulch near a small tree trunk. Out with the pinpointer probe and the search was over in less than 2 minutes. From under the suger cane mulch emerged the matching wedding band mate. It was very clear I suggested to the surprised lady the magical Irish ring wanted to be found fast and returned to its mate with out delay. I am now wishing I took a photo of the two rings together as they where meant to be. I thank you very much for offering me an addiitonal reward on this job but in good conscience I couldn’t accept the money as the ring did all the work quickly.

Wedding Band Rescued
Hire Jewellery Rescue with metal detector , Peter had all but given up on his wedding ring ever being found. Peter a plumber turned excellent landscaper wanted to wear a wedding band now he wasn’t in the plumbing trade. However while laying wood chip mulch he took his gardening gloves off during the day, losing his solid gold ring as well. Peter and his lovely understanding wife met me in the gardens Peter was working in. He pointed out all the aluminium and steel benches surrounding the garden in question and asked if they would be a hinderance to the metal detector. I replied my etrac metal detector would discriminate the aluminium and steel seats, however it wasn’t going to be easy as the metal detector would still respond to the mass of metal. So the hunt begins, Backing the power of the detector right off I was able to search closer to the the metal seats. The etrac was able to metal detect to with in 100mm of the seats finding a variety of metal bobby pins etc, I then turned to my pin pointer probe that beeps only in very close proximity to metal items. I used it to search underneath the seats in and around the steel legs pushing it through the wood chips. Still not finding Peters wedding band. Dusk turned to night we had to stop searching for that night no one wanted to give up the on the ring but we had to let it go. Peter and his wife didn’t expect to find it and paid me my base service fee. I said I would like to look for the ring for no extra cost on my own time on the weekend if they would have me back on the weekend. They agreed but didn’t get their hopes up too high, a wise precaution. My good friend Brad from www.metaldetectorehire.com.au and his diving friend offered to come over later in the day to assist in the search for the ring, we always want the best result for our customers and I looked forward to meeting up with him again. So on Saturday morning when I was fresh and full of renewed inspiration I started going CSI (crime scene investigation) in minute detail on this garden and surrounds. This time working the garden from a new direction as metal detectors can react differently to targets lying at different angles. Still pulling out every metal target in my path. An hour into the renewed search, a beep, a gold beep, the slightest hint of a gold reading being masked by surrounding metal influences. So I changed sweep angles again a stronger gold signal this time. Using the pin pointer to lightly sweep over the wood chips, into the sunlight flipped the solid gold band that was hidden beneath. A lovely and welcome sight. It was my great pleasure to call Peter and his wife who were on their way to shop for a replacement ring as it turns out, I gave them the good news. They meet me in minutes and were ecstatic as the ring was returned to its rightful place on Peter’s finger. I thank you both for allowing me to re-search the gardens. Thank you very much for the ample reward you gave me. A new ring just wouldn’t be the same as the one you took your vows with. I wish you both all the best in the future.
